Liga MB Round 15 (Regular Season): Salvadorenos lose to Metapan in the game between Top 4 teams

The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Metapan. Third ranked host Metapan (12-3) defeated 4th placed Salvadorenos (8-7) 91-86. Metapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who led his team to a victory scoring 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. American JD Weatherspoon (198-1992, college: Toledo) helped adding 24 points and 17 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Brayan Garcia (194-1998) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Metapan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-3 record having just one point less than leader San Salvador. Salvadorenos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Fifth ranked Cojute (8-6) beat at home 7th ranked A.Lobos (4-10) by 11 points 67-56, which is the biggest margin this round. It was a quality performance for forward Pablo Figueroa (186-2000) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Frankyn Batista accounted for 6 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. American point guard Robert Story (183, college: WSSU) came up with 21 points for A.Lobos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cojute moved-up to fourth place. A.Lobos at the other side keep the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Brujos. Cojute will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. A.Lobos will play at home against Fantasmas (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 15 Brujos won against Santa Tecla on the opponent's court 86-80.




Santa Tecla - Brujos 80-86

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Santa Tecla (6-8) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Brujos (4-10) 86-80. Brujos players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican Eusebio Suero who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) accounted for 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Five Brujos players scored in double figures. American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) came up with 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Nicaraguan guard Deikel Sanchez (-1996) added 15 points and 21 rebounds respectively for Santa Tecla in the defeat. Brujos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with A.Lobos. Santa Tecla lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Brujos will play against league's second-placed Santa Ana at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santa Tecla will play against Santiagueno (#10) in Usultan and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Cojute - A.Lobos 67-56

Fifth ranked Cojute (8-6) beat at home 7th ranked A.Lobos (4-10) by 11 points 67-56, which is the biggest margin this round. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to A.Lobos' 26. They outrebounded A.Lobos 45-33 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for forward Pablo Figueroa (186-2000) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Dominican forward Frankyn Batista (198-1999, college: Pace) accounted for 6 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Batista is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Robert Story (183, college: WSSU) came up with 21 points and the other American import forward Sean Scott (190-1997, college: Pfeiffer) added 14 points respectively for A.Lobos in the defeat.
